Eugene J. McAllister, Ph.D.
Dr. Eugene J. McAllister took the helm at the University of Great Falls in March of 2003. Before joining us in Montana, Dr. McAllister served as Vice President for Finance and Administration at Jacksonville University, a private, independent university in Florida.
Dr. McAllister’s credentials include experience in Washington, D.C. where he served as Special Assistant to the President Ronald Reagan and as Assistant Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, serving President Reagan and President George H. W. Bush. At the State Department, McAllister successfully led negotiations for treaties with the Soviet Union, Poland, and China, and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). He also served in several positions at the office of Management and Budget from 1981 to 1985.
He has a Ph.D. in economics from the Catholic University of America. He also received an M.A. in economics from the University of California Davis, and a B.S. in economics from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Dr. McAllister and his wife, Sanford, have three sons.
